The Gauley : First ever rafting trip and on the amazing upper section of the Gauley River in West Virginia. The series of rafting photos show us doing the "Pillow Splat" which is putting your craft as high up on Pillow Rock as it will go and without capsizing. Which we did! Sept. 2007. Side note: If you want to get up close and personal, click on the photo to the right and select "O" at the top. Many great facial expressions to be seen, and very zoomed in.

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada : A group of us traveled to Whistler/Blackcomb Mtn. in March 2005 for a great ski adventure and little did we know that it was to be the worst skiing conditions in 20 years! We did do a day of zip-lining, which was a ton of fun. There was skiing to be done, tho, with the "bowls" having awesome powder and the highest elevation on Whistler Mnt. looked wicked. Wish I had taken photos of up top and also wish I had the skills to ski it!

The Florida Keys : I love the Keys! Took a winter trip down to the keys in 2003 thru a local MD outfitter. We snorkeled, hiked a bit and, of course, kayaked the keys, which included exploring the mangrove waterways. And keeping in tune with a lot of trips that I venture on, I met 3 other folks from WI! A side note: Digital cameras rule! Wish I had mine on this trip.

Costa Rica Kayaking : Kayaking trip to Costa Rica, Central America, with Costa Rica Rios. Joined up with 7 other kayakers from around the U.S. for 6 days of paddling in Costa Rica. 5 of the boaters were on their "group" trip: Greg and Eric living in New Mexico; Knox, Art and Jim coming from Colorado. All class IV-V+ boaters and 4 are doctors, to boot. Kiran from California and James from Texas. As I came to find out, it was great to have doctors on my trip! I had an out-of-boat skirmish and in saving myself from an ugly downstream swim, I managed to put a 4" gash into my shin. A little super glue to seal and much duct tape worked to protect the wound for the rest of the week. Ask me about viewing the trip dvd. Many of the rivers/sections we paddled were fast and continuous, so I wasn't able to stop and take pics most of the time. Footage on the dvd is awesome and shows the true character of Costa Rica rivers.

Winter Scapes : Sligo Creek after a fresh snowfall in 2006. I live 2 blocks from this creek which spans miles west to east thru a highly urbanized area. Many deer, muskrat, blue herons (and a beaver sighting) live around the creek. Amazing to think that they all thrive so near such an active metropolis, being the Washington D.C. metro area.

Pringle Run Dec. 2007 : Kayaking in West Virginia. Had a great early season snow fall and temps. warmed up to start the melting process, along with a lot of much desired rainfall in this 2007 east coast drought year. I was on hand to take some pics of paddlers traversing the local creeks.

House in Kensington : Love this house and the neighborhood. Built in 1947, it's quaint as post World War II houses were. It was renovated in 1992 with wood cathedral ceilings in the living area and millwork beams and wood moulding throughout. The backyard consists of 3 levels and was well landscaped at some point by an owner before who very much loved this property.

2010 : We had 2 back-to-back snowstorms in February within a 4-day period. The second one turned out to be an authentic Wisconsin-like blizzard. I wasn't able to make it in to work until Friday, between waiting on the plow and the Wednesday blizzard.
